Senior year Checklist

This list is provided to help remind you of events that may apply to your senior. Each school varies this schedule and not all of these ideas apply to everyone.

Print Checklist

Summer:

q     Schedule senior photos; see if you can get an early bird discount in June.

q     Take SAT or ACT tests for college applications (many students are encouraged to begin taking these exams in the Spring of their Junior year)

q     Work: Full or part time

q     Volunteer in some way to build character and your student fact sheet

q     Plan family activities for the final days of summer

q     Set up senior year filing system

 

Fall:

q     Senioritis sets in! “We are kings” mentality causes some outrageous behavior

q     Several nights before first day of school, beware of pranks and late night trouble spots

q     Start a parents’ group to get to know the parents of your student’s friends.

q     Submit college applications (especially for early decision or best dorm space)

q     Turn in senior photo for yearbook

q     Order class ring if not ordered as an underclassman

q     Order graduation announcements

q     Order cap and gown

q     Order yearbook

q     Attend Homecoming activities/ Fall dances

q     Start planning a spring break vacation

q     Retake SAT or ACT tests if original scores were lower than desired

q     Take lots of photographs (Fall sports, Fall activities, Fall dances, etc.)

 

Winter:

q     Class rings delivered

q     Early admit to college notices mailed

q     May receive rejections from colleges

q     Apply to more colleges

q     Start working on senior party if your school organizes one

q     Start planning graduation party

q     Spring break

q     Take more photographs (Winter sports, Winter activities, Winter dances)

 

Spring:

q     Senioritis returns with a bang!

q     Prom

q     Plan a pre- or post- Prom party

q     Team banquets

q     Caps and gowns delivered

q     Graduation announcements and invitations delivered

q     Graduation party planning

q     Take even more photographs (Spring sports, Spring activities, Spring dances

q     Graduation practice

q     Year end school assembly
